TICKETS to ride on the first public giant water slide to be mounted in the North-East go on sale on Saturday (November 22).
The inaugural WearSlide event will take place at Herrington Country Park, near Penshaw Monument, on Saturday, April 25.
A water slide measuring 100 metres, with a smaller 50-metre version for younger thrill-seekers, will be set up in the 350-acre park, on the restored former Herrington Colliery site, between Sunderland and Chester-le-Street.
It will give hundreds of would-be sliders the opportunity to try what for most will be a unique new experience.
Wearside events company Sunderland Live was keen to bring the attraction to the region, after it made a big splash at previous venues, including Derby and Bristol city centre.
Chris Alexander, chief operating officer at Sunderland Live, said: “We’ve been thrilled with the amount of queries we’ve received around this event and would recommend early booking to avoid disappointment.
“It’s great to see that other people are as excited as we are about WearSlide.
A maximum of two tickets can be ordered at one time, and the name and dates of birth of the participants will have to be given when making the booking.
As well as offering adult and children’s individual tickets, packages will also be available for charities and registered organisations making group bookings.
Tickets bookings can be made via www.sunderlandlive.co.uk, from 10am, on Saturday (November 22).
It will also carry further information about the event.
