POLICE investigating a robbery at a Newcastle bookmakers have released CCTV images of a man they need to trace.

A man went into William Hill in Westgate Road side at 6pm on Sunday (November 16) and demanded staff hand over cash.

He lunged over the counter at a member of staff but fled empty-handed and met a second man outside before leaving. No weapons were used.

CCTV images of a man who may be able to help with police enquiries have now been released.

DS Nick Walker said: "We're carrying out enquiries into this robbery and we need to speak to the man in the images as we believe he can help with the investigation. Anyone who recognises him or anyone with information is asked to get in touch."
