WORK on a £3.3m scheme to improve journeys on one of North Yorkshire’s main routes will begin this weekend.
Seven sections of the A64 from Barton Hill crossroads, between York and Malton, to the Eastfield roundabout, near Scarborough, are to be resurfaced in four phases.
The work includes patching and resurfacing the carriageway, renewing road markings and roads studs, reinstating traffic loops and bridge joints, and renewing damaged road gullies.
The project should be completed in February and will involve the full closure of the road on five weekends.
Variable messaging signs and advanced warning signs will be put up two weeks before work starts on each phase. No work will take place over the Christmas period from December 23 to January 5.
