PERFORMERS of a stage production of Dirty Dancing gave a masterclass of steps from the acclaimed film.
The Sunderland Empire will be hosting the production from January 27 to February 14 and actors and dancers went to the nearby Sassy Girl Fitness promote it and demonstrate some of their routines.
Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage is produced by Karl Sydow and Joye Entertainment, in association with Lionsgate and Magic Hour Productions, and written by Eleanor Bergstein, scriptwriter of the 1987 film.
It features all the much-loved characters and original dialogue from the iconic film with exciting extra scenes added in.
The dance sequences and new choreography are set to hits from the soundtrack, including Do You Love Me?, Hungry Eyes and the Academy Award-winning (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.
Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage opened at the Aldwych Theatre in 2006 with a record-breaking advance of £15m, making it the fastest-selling show in West End theatre history.
It became the longest-running show in the Aldwych’s history, playing to more than two million people on its five-year run.
