A RETIRED primary school deputy headteacher found guilty of 14 historic charges of indecent assault and indecency towards a child has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Anthony Herbert Place, 76, of Mallorie Court, Ripon, was today (Monday, November 17) sentenced for his crimes, which included 11 counts of indecent assault with a female, two counts of indecency with a child, and one count of indecent assault.
The offences happened more than 30 years ago. The victim is not one of his former pupils.
Place appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court for sentencing by Judge Stephen Ashurst after a jury found him guilty of child sex abuse at York Crown Court in May.
He received concurrent sentences of 12 months for four of the charges of indecent assault with a female; and 18 months for the remaining charges.
Place was also given an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order, and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.
