HE’S back. Britain’s longest-serving professional panto dame is once again about to done his wig and frock for more mayhem and madness.
Berwick Kaler is preparing for his record-breaking 36th starring turn in the annual Christmas extravaganza at York Theatre Royal.
Together with other regulars Martin Barrass, Suzy Cooper and David Leonard, the Sunderland-born star and the rest of the cast have now begun rehearsals for this year’s show, Old Mother Goose.
Written, as ever, by Berwick himself it promises to be the familiar and much-loved mix of theatrical craziness – this time putting good and evil to the test when two fairies battle for supremacy.
The show will open on December 11 and runs through until January 31. Ticket prices range from £11 to £28.50.
