A SCHOOLBOY who was inspired by a Remembrance concert took it on himself to raise £50 for the cause.
Matthew Docherty was so captivated by the Festival of Remembrance at Durham Cathedral on Saturday night (November 8) the next day he knocked on neighbours’ doors to collect money for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
In total, he raised £50.66
In recognition of his efforts, the nine-year-old from Washington, Wearside, was invited to Durham Town Hall to receive a certificate of thanks from the Legion.
