PYROTECHNICS, digital projections and evocative music will be among the attractions at a free outdoor event in a North-East town.
All are welcome to attend the performance of Homecoming, in Darlington's Market Square, from 6pm to 7pm, on Friday (November 14).
The event will tell the stories of North-East people who took part in the First World War – both overseas and on the Home Front.
The show will feature digital projections, pyrotechnics, lighting and specially commissioned music.
Nick Wallis, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet member for leisure and local environment, said: “Homecoming tells the moving and inspiring stories of local people and the sacrifices they made for future generations during the First World War One.
"It will be an exciting event and I hope as many people as possible can come along to experience the sights and sounds of the First World War.”
The event has been created by internationally acclaimed theatre company Periplum as part of the Remembering our War – Tees Valley Commemorates project, which marks 100 years since the start of the Great War.
Homecoming is being performed across the Tees Valley with the final performance in Hartlepool on December 16 marking 100 years since the town’s bombardment from the sea – the only UK battlefield during the war.
