A WOMAN was assaulted after attending a Remembrance Day parade with her five-year-old daughter in Redcar.
The 43-year-old woman was in a car park on West Dyke Road, near the Job Centre, when the assault happened.
Two boys aged 12 and 14 have been arrested on suspicion of common assault and bailed pending further inquiries.
It happened at about 12.40pm on Sunday.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "The woman was confronted by a male youth who was attempting to damage a sign and asked that he stop. The youth became abusive and swore at the woman and blocked the path of her vehicle, preventing her from leaving.
The woman, who suffers from a medical condition, got out of her car to ask the suspect to stop swearing in front of her daughter and allow her to pass. He then put up the hood on his hooded top, pulling the drawstrings tight to obscure his face, and pushed the woman to the ground.
"She was left suffering from back pain and was taken to hospital for treatment."
Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact PC Daniel Scott on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
