A HEAD-ON crash between a silver Ford Focus and a Stagecoach bus headed to North Tees Hospital caused traffic jams in Stockton on bonfire night.
The crash happened outside Hardwick Social Club, in Harrowgate Lane, Stockton, at about 4.45pm.
Local residents gathered on the street after hearing what they described as a “loud bang”.
A social club patron, who did not wish to be named, witnessed the incident from his car.
He said: “The silver car was embedded in the driver's side of the bus. It was smashed halfway along the bonnet. It must have hit it at some speed.”
The bus driver and the driver of the second vehicle were not injured.
Emergency services at the scene declined to comment.
