THE final touches are being put together for a major stage production which will tell the stories of real people alive in the First World War.
Titled Homecoming, the outdoor theatre performance will be held at Preston Park, Eaglescliffe, near Stockton and will tell the stories of both people on the home front and the battlefields.
There will also be a range of special effects including mobile structures, digital projections, music and pyrotechnics and the production has been created by international theatre company, Periplum.
Archivists and local libraries have researched the stories with participation from residents across the Stockton area and the rest of the Tees Valley. The production will tour other towns across the Tees Valley until December featuring a story from each community.
Cllr Ken Dixon, Stockton Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Leisure, said: “It is incredibly important that we remember the huge efforts of everyone who contributed during the First World War. This fantastic performance tells the real stories of local people at the time.”
The event is free of charge but entry tickets will be required. Tickets will also include access to the Park and Ride service operating from local car parks. For more information and secure a ticket, visit stockton.gov.uk/homecoming or www.rememberingourwar.co.uk
