POLICE investigating a report of suspicious activity at an historic coastal landmark are trying to trace the owner of recovered property.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary by officers responding to the call to Tynemouth Priory, North Tyneside, at 11.20am on Wednesday (July 2).
The arrested man, who was treated at hospital for leg injuries, has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Police recovered a stolen memorial stone found at the scene and police are appealing for the owner to come forward.
It is believed the stone may have sentimental value to the owner as it appears to bear the inscription ‘Dicky’, together with the dates 1926 - 2003.
Anyone who recognises it is asked to contact Northumbria Police, on 101, extension 69191.
Callers are asked to quote the reference number 415 02/07/14.
