AN ARTIST who has been elected as a full member of the Society of Botanical Artists was praised by the society’s council and president for her consistently high standard of work.

Kate Green, from Richmond, said she was delighted to have been made a full member of the society after being admitted as an associate member last year.

Mrs Green said her work, which will be included in the European Exhibition of Botanical Art in Palmengarten, in Frankfurt, Germany, in October, is inspired by her mature garden and wildlife pond.

“After submitting work to the annual exhibition in Westminster I was elected as a full member and told it was because of the consistently high standard of work I produced,” she said.

“I produce miniatures and still-life paintings, and for the upcoming exhibition I have to submit work based on plants with medicinal or poisonous properties – which is quite easy because many plants have at least a small amount of poison in them.”

Mrs Green is also exhibiting work at the Station, Richmond, in the Spot on the Wall event from Friday, July 25 until September 3.

She said: “I exhibited there four years ago and it is a nice environment. It gives the artist that chance to change paintings every week and to replace any that sell.”
