A WOMAN has died in a road crash.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal accident on the A64 between Copmanthorpe and Bilbrough, near York.
The 38-year-old woman had been driving a grey Fiat Punto at 11.25pm on Thursday, July 3, when it hit the central reservation on the westbound carriageway and overturned onto the verge at the road side.
The woman, from the Leeds area, suffered serious injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved.
Officers are investigating the collision and are keen to trace any other motorists who were on the road at the time the incident occurred.
Drivers on either side of the carriageway may have seen what happened and they are urged to come forward with information.
