A TEENAGE cyclist has suffered what has been described as serious life-changing injuries after a traffic collision
The 15-year-old girl had been riding a silver and white bike when she was involved in a collision with a blue Audi estate car at a cross roads in Bishop Monkton, near Ripon.
The local girl was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary, where she is currently being treated for her injuries.
The accident happened at the crossroads of Knaresborough Road, Hungate and Moor Road at about 6pm on Thursday, July 3, not far from the Tour de France route.
The driver of the car, which was travelling along Knaresborough Road towards Ripon, was uninjured in the collision.
The road was closed for over four hours while officers conducted their investigations into the collision.
Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either the Audi or the cyclist – who was wearing a distinctive pink top – to contact them with information.
