A WOMAN has placed 80 bricks on a Lego model of Durham Cathedral to mark her 80th birthday.
Ann Dixon was given the bricks as an 80th birthday present by her sister, Margaret Colling.
The Cathedral is inviting people to buy £1 plastic bricks for a 350,000-brick Lego replica of the 900-year-old shrine to raise money for its £10m Open Treasure appeal.
Mrs Dixon, who was born in Langley Park, County Durham, and now lives in Thurnby, Leicester, said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to help build Durham Cathedral in Lego.
“The Cathedral has always held a special place in my heart and it’s wonderful to support a project that will ensure the Cathedral can be enjoyed by visitors for many years to come.”
