CHILDREN are still smiling despite vandals attacking their Tour de France artwork.
Pupils from Richmond Church of England Primary School designed 12 bikes ahead of the event, with six decorating the school and six fixed to railings surrounding the town's Friary Gardens.
However, one of the bikes was vandalised within hours of being erected.
Class teacher Lucy Hodges said: “The children worked extremely hard to design and produce the bikes in mixed-aged teams and I was very proud of their work.
"The children were very excited to have six of their bikes displayed at the Friary Gardens.
"Unfortunately one of the bikes has already been damaged which has upset a lot of the children." Year 4 pupil Devon Cox added: “I was very excited to see the bike that I helped design on the railing on my way home.
"When I came to school the following day I was distraught to see that it had been broken.”
