MUSIC fans in the North-East were treated to a concert by pop legend Sir Elton John tonight (July 2).
The hit-maker played the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle for the first time in two years
Speaking beforehand he said: “There is something very special to me about coming home.
“I’ve been all around the world more times than I can count, and I truly enjoy playing my music for fans everywhere I can, but I do so look forward to coming back home to England every summer.
“Newcastle has always been a special place for me, as I first played there all the way back in 1971 at the City Hall with the original three piece Elton John Band.”
His gig included several of his number one hits and classic songs from a career spanning 40 years together with tracks from his latest album ‘The Diving Board’.
Elton John is one of the top-selling solo artists of all time with 35 gold and 25 platinum album, 29 consecutive Top 40 hits and an incredible 250-million records worldwide.
