A SUPERMARKET chain is supporting Help for Heroes with a fundraising challenge to collect and sell charity merchandise at its stores across the region.
On Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6, Asda will host 1,000 volunteers in 340 stores nationwide - including Northallerton, Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Hartlepool, Thornaby, Peterlee, Spennymoor and Middlesbrough Park End.
This is the third year that Asda has supported the charity and last year volunteers and shoppers managed to raise £373,812.
Bryn Parry OBE, chief executive and co-founder of Help for Heroes, said: “At H4H we rely heavily on our wonderful volunteers and this weekend they’ll be giving up their time again to do their bit at their local Asda store.
“If you can’t get to Asda and would like to donate, text HERO to 70900 to donate £5 to Help for Heroes. You will be charged £5 plus your standard network rate, and £5 goes directly to Help for Heroes. Alternatively call the helpline: 01494-750500.
