A YOUNG couple from the North-East are playing the lead roles in a classic musical love story.
Chris Ledger and Rebecca Davis are performing in an amateur dramatic version of The Phantom of the Opera at the Empire Theatre in Consett, County Durham.
Mr Ledger, 20, plays the phantom while Miss Davis, 18, appears as Christine.
The couple, both from Consett, are part of the Act On Theatre Group at Consett YMCA.
Group spokesman Julie Ingham said: “It is lovely that they are boyfriend and girlfriend in real life.
“They are all a totally unique group of young people and the entire production has been ably directed by three 18-year-old young ladies.
“The Phantom of the Opera is a timeless classic musical which has ran to rave reviews in the West End for over 25 years.
“The drama group has impressed audiences from across Derwentside with their dedication and commitment to their productions.
“The young actors give up a great deal of their spare time to ensure people from the local communities see spectacular showcases.”
