TWO students are on track for success after winning the chance to report on a motor racing championship.

Chelsea Morrison, 17, and Erin Robinson, 14, reported on the Ginetta GT4 Supercup at Croft Circuit this weekend.

The students from Polam Hall School, in Darlington, visited the media centre, interviewed drivers and wrote reports on the day, which will be posted on the Junior Academy of Media’s (JAM) website.

They were chosen after taking part in a competition run by the JAM, which saw a number of Polam Hall students submit an article on why they want to work in motorsports.

The judges said Chelsea’s report stood out from the crowd because of her genuine interest in the world of motorsports, and Erin’s because of her desire to work in journalism.

Speaking before the event, Chelsea said: “I’m so excited to be reporting at Croft Circuit. I’ve always been interested in motor sports and I’ve just received my provisional driving license so once I’ve had some lessons maybe I could give racing a go.”

The JAM is run by Michelin and Ginetta and aims to teach young people about the types of careers within motorsports, including working in the media.

John Moreland, headmaster at Polam Hall School said: “We are very fortunate to have had the Junior Academy of Media visit school and offer our pupils such a brilliant opportunity.

“I’m sure Chelsea and Erin will have an excellent day at Croft Circuit and we’re all looking forward to reading their reports online.”
