RUNNERS in animal-themed fancy dress were a colourful sight as they jogged through the grounds of a North-East estate.
About 1,000 people took part in the annual Lambton 10k and 3k fun run, through the Lambton Estate, in County Durham, today (Sunday).
The 10k run departed first, with 700 experienced and enthusiastic runners, followed shortly after by the 3k route, which comprised about 300 entrants of all ages jogging, walking and toddling.
Most of those who took part in the shorter run wore animal-themed fancy dress costumes to mark the fact that they were running through grounds which were once home to the Lambton Lion Park.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Foundation of Light, to help fund the charity’s sport and education-based programmes, which benefit young people and families regionwide.
