A WOMAN who runs an animal shelter is desperate for people to help her by taking on a pet cat.
Tendercare Cattery, in Burnhope, currently has more than 66 moggies - too many for owner Tracey Hobbs.
The animals range from new born kittens to ten year old cats and the 51-year-old is urging people thinking of getting a pet to visit her before they buy a new one.
She said: “There are a lot of youngsters, which I hope will be popular.
“But I have got a lot more than I should have at the minute and I need the space for the boarders over the summer holiday period.”
She is also looking for help from donors to supply her with cat food, biscuits, litter, blankets, toys and beds.
An open day, so people can have a look round and find out more is being held on Saturday, July 5 from 11am-1pm.
Adoption fees vary but all have been speyed or neutered, wormed and checked by a vet.
Ms Hobbs added: “We hope people will think about us first before buying a cat
“Everyone seems to know we are here when they need to find a home for a cat and the RSPCA cannot take them.
“But I need to get the word out that we have lots of lovely cats that need new homes as well.”
To find out more or arrange a visit before the open day call Ms Hobbs on 01207-529-233 or 07982-005-429.
