UP-AND-COMING fashion designer Sally Hughlock is in for a busy time when she takes part in the country’s biggest countryside show next month.
Not only is one of her designs taking centre stage on the catwalk at the Great Yorkshire Show - but the teenager is also competing in the equine classes too.
Northallerton College fashion student Sally, 18, and her horse EC Sapphire, a ten-year-old tri-coloured show cob, came fourth in their class at last year’s event.
But this year she is determined to go one better when she competes on the opening day of the show, which runs from July 8 to 10.
And after that she will be taking a seat for one of the four-times-a-day catwalk shows in the fashion pavilion.
The Osmotherley teenager designed her Edwardian-inspired riding outfit, Concours D’Elegance, for herself. It features a black wool jacket, jacquard polyester weave skirt, cotton petticoat skirt, waistcoat and top hat, with tartan finishes.
“I love the Great Yorkshire Show, it is my favourite event and I have been many times,” she said.
“Although I have competed at the show, I have never been to the fashion pavilion before, as I’ve never really had time, but this year I’m obviously going to make the time.
“It will be so exciting to see one of my designs on the catwalk. I can’t wait.”
The fashion shows are co-ordinated by Morton Gledhill – The Fashion Team.
