A CAR has collided with a HGV near the junction for Gilling West, Melsonby and Richmond on the A66, eastbound.
North Yorkshire Police said they were alerted to the crash at 2.25pm today and that it involved two vehicles.
The driver of the car, believed to be an elderly woman, has been taken to hospital by air ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
The driver of the HGV is thought to be uninjured.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “The collision occurred on the A66 eastbound carriageway, close to the B6274 junction.
“Traffic can get through in one lane but the other is closed due to the HGV blocking the carriageway.”
