A MOTORIST who undertook a lorry and a car at speed before slamming on his brakes and appearing to make a rude gesture has been banned from driving for 12 months.
Christian Clark, 27, was filmed by another motorist’s in-car camera as he undertook a lorry on the hard shoulder of the southbound carriageway of the A1 at Skeeby, near Richmond, at 4pm, on January 27.
The footage shows him cutting across in front of the lorry and then moving in front of the vehicle with the camera in the outside lane before slamming his brakes on.
Clark, of Cross Flats Place, Leeds, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court on June 6.
PC Andy Grainge said: “This was clearly a very dangerous manoeuvre and it is extremely fortunate that nobody was injured.
“The defendant has admitted that he made a massive error of judgement and hopefully this will serve as a warning to other motorists that putting lives at risk on the roads can lead to you losing your licence.”
Clark was also sentenced to 150 hours' unpaid work and was ordered to pay £85 costs.
