A YOUNG woman is having eight inches cut off her hair so it can be turned into wigs for sick children.
Emma Marshall has been growing her hair for several years and it is currently reaches down to the bottom of her back.
But on August 2 she plans to have it cut to a short bob to raise money for the Little Princess Trust.
The 29-year-old civil servant, from Craghead, near Stanley, said: “I will not only be attempting to raise money for them but will also be donating eight inches of my hair so that they can make a wig for a child who has lost their hair through cancer treatment.
“As the cost of a wig can be very expensive I am trying to drum up as much support as possible.
“Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer at some stage in their lives. I just wanted to do something to make things a little bit easier for them, to bring a bit of normality into their lives.”
“I have already raised over £100 and have a few more plans in the pipeline for some more events.
