A FESTIVAL is to take place next month celebrating the achievements of people recovering from alcohol addiction.
The first Revive Recovery Festival is to take place at Riverside Park in Chester-le-Street on Sunday, July 20.
Organised by members of the Durham Recovery and Wellbeing Centre, the free festival takes place from noon to 8pm.
Diva, stars of the BBC talent show The Voice, will perform on the main stage alongside bands After The Republic, Top Boy Round Here, Moving Targets, Siamese Angel and two groups formed by centre members: The Recovery Choir and The Abstainers.
Project worker Vicky Allen said: “The aim of the festival is to make recovery more visible and accessible in the community and to celebrate people moving forward with their life.
“People can and do change – it is possible.”
As well as music, the festival will include health, crafts and family entertainment.
There will be a healing tent offering therapies such as reiki, Indian head massage and reflexology and a recovery tent featuring motivational speakers.
There will also be a climbing wall, children’s sports day and table tennis tournament
