AS THE second anniversary of the discovery of the body of a murdered Middlesbrough girl approaches, Cleveland Police has issued a renewed appeal for information.

Rachel Wilson’s remains were recovered on June 27, 2012, in a secluded location at Newham Hall Farm on the outskirts of Middlesbrough.

The teenager had been missing for more than a decade after she was last seen in the Woodlands Road area of Middlesbrough on the morning of May 31, 2002.

A large team of experienced detectives were deployed and have worked exclusively on the investigation since the remains were found. They are continuing with the enquiry and are progressing new and revealing lines of enquiry.

Detective Inspector Andy Greenwood, who is the senior investigating officer on the enquiry, said recent enquiries around the anniversary of her disappearance in May had identified witnesses who had moved the investigation forward.

He said: “I have worked on this enquiry and the original enquiry in 2002 when Rachel went missing. We are now closer to finding out what happened to Rachel than at any other time during both the enquiries. I know there are people out there who know what happened to Rachel and I would urge them to contact us.”

The teenager was one of three young women who went missing from the Middlesbrough area in a four year period.

Donna Keogh was 17 when she went missing in April, 1998, when she was last seen at a house party in Bow Street.

Vicky Glass went missing shortly after her 21st birthday in September, 2000. She was dropped off by a taxi outside the Shipmate pub, in Union Street. Her naked remains were discovered several weeks later on an isolated track on the North York Moors, near Danby.

Anyone with information is urged to call Cleveland Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
