POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a pillion passenger on a motorcycle was killed in a crash in North Yorkshire.
The 39 year old woman was riding on a Honda motorcycle on the A1237 at Knapton, near York, which came off the road about 11.15am yesterday (Sunday, June 22).
Police said it is understood the Honda motorcycle had previously overtaken a lorry shortly before the crash and are appealing for the driver of the lorry to come forward.
The woman who was from the Rotherham area was pronounced dead at the scene. The rider of the motorcycle, also from Rotherham, was hurt but his injuries are not life-threatening.
The road up to the Wetherby roundabout on the A59 was closed for four hours while police examiners carried out enquires into the incident.
Anyone with information should contact Traffic constable Dave Seavers of the Major collision investigation unit at North Yorkshire police on 101.
