A HOUSEHOLDER has been airlifted to hospital after an attempt at DIY went badly wrong.
The 59-year-old County Durham man was using a power tool to make making a bird table when the accident happened at lunchtime.
He suffered bad cuts to both legs during the accident in Horden at 1.30pm and was treated at the scene by a Great North Air Ambulance doctor before being flown to hospital.
He was taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough where his condition on arrival was described as stable.
