A SNAKE has been handed in to police after it was found on a North-East street.
A member of the public alerted officers after finding the reptile in the Cleveland Avenue area of Chester-le-Street.
Police are now appealing for anyone who knows who its owner is to get in touch.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “We believe it is possibly a corn snake but may be wrong.
“It has since been handed over to the RSPCA who will find it a temporary home.”
Anyone with information can call the force non-emergency number, 101, to help.
