A MAN has died after suffering serious injuries when he was hit by a HGV on a North Yorkshire road last night.
The incident happened at 7.45pm on the A64 near Sherburn, between Malton and Scarborough, and involved the man and a white and blue DAF lorry.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said the 25-year-old local man had been found in the middle of the road, and taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with serious injuries, but he died this morning.
The man’s family have been informed, but his identity has not yet been released.
The A64 was closed in both directions to allow officers to carry out an investigation into the collision, and was reopened at about 12.15am today.
Officers have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw anyone walking along the side of the carriageway prior to the incident, to get in touch with information.
Anyone with information should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101 or email hamish.halloway@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
