BEDALE’S promising golfer Daniel Brown has reached the quarter-final of the British Amateur Championship.
Brown was always in control in his fourth round match with Welshman Rhys Pugh and he has teed up a last eight match with compatriot Sean Towndrow on Saturday.
It has been a fantastic few days so far for Brown, who is really making a name for himself on the amateur scene. The teenager defeated Frenchman Thomas Le Berre 4&2 earlier in the day and 24 hours earlier he knocked out American Myles Lewis 2&1.
On Monday the North Yorkshireman, ranked 453rd in the world amateur rankings, highlighted the brilliant form he was in by qualifying for the knock-out stages in style.
Brown’s four-under 66 opening round at Royal Portrush was followed by the same score in his second round to finish four shots clear of Kenwick Park’s Ashton Turner and Italian Renato Paratore.
