YOUNGSTERS enjoyed an Alice in Wonderland-themed party as the Queen of Hearts was joined by the Mad Hatter on a visit to Spennymoor’s schools.
The Blooming Great Tea Party visited schools to help raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
A double decker bus carried the Lewis Carroll-themed characters, many balanced on stilts, to the schools on Thursday and Friday.
The event was organised by DurhamGate and Success North-East and the charity party spent 45 minutes at each school.
As part of the fun the children were asked to design a tea pot.
The design judged the best in each school will go through to a final on Sunday (June 22) with the winning entries turned into tea pots.
Wendy Minhinnett, of Success North-East, said: “It was amazing and the children absolutely loved it. Each of the schools went out of its way to make it special."
Helen Attley, concierge manager at DurhamGate, said: “The tea party tour was a fantastic event.
“The stilt walkers and tea pot workshop were extremely popular with the school children.”
A free family fun day for Marie Curie will take place at DurhamGate hub, on Sunday (June 22), between 1pm and 4pm.
