THE star of Bafta award-winning Gogglebox will host a charity night in aid of her cousin and the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNASS) which she says saved his life.

Scarlett Moffatt, of Bishop Auckland, who is part of the Channel 4 observational documentary, hopes to raise funds for Marc Reed, and the cause she holds close to her heart with a sold-out ladies’ night.

Miss Moffatt credits the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) with saving the life of Mr Reed, who was hit by a car in Bishop Auckland in August last year.

GNAAS attended the scene and stabilised him before flying him to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, with multiple serious injuries.

The 22-year-old said: “Without a doubt the air ambulance helped save Marc’s life. He died three times and was in a coma for three months and now he is the same Marc we all know and love.

“He has recently taken his first steps with assistance and at the beginning we didn’t know if he’d be able to do that. He’s surprised everyone and we can’t thank the service enough. We just want to get him home.”

Funds raised at the event will be divided between GNAAS and house alterations for Mr Reed.

Miss Moffatt said: “I’m really excited to host the evening and I hope we can raise lots of funds for a fantastic cause.

“I can’t stress to people enough how important the air ambulance is and it is entirely funded by the public. Our help is vital.”

The ticket-only event sold out in just three days and will be held at the Belvedere pub in Bishop Auckland on Saturday, June 28.

Guests will enjoy a performance from the current Mr Newcastle, Dee Stokes, a drag queen show, topless butlers and a disco throughout the evening. Raffle prizes include an Apple iPad Mini 2 and Samsung Galaxy S4.

Miss Moffatt already has plans for her next fundraiser in aid of the air ambulance.

She said: “I have been so surprised with the popularity of the event that I think I’ll hold my next fundraising evening at a much bigger venue. There has been a lot of work involved but I’ve really enjoyed it and I just want to get the night started.”
