DETECTIVES investigating a serious sexual assault have renewed their appeal to trace two witnesses.
The victim, a woman aged in her early 20s, was walking home alone after a night out with friends when she was attacked near St George’s Field car park in York.
The incident took place just after 1.30am on March 3 and the potential witnesses police wish to speak to were walking nearby.
One was about 6ft tall and wore a dark hat with a lighter coloured bobble with writing on the front. He also wore a hooded military-style jacket, worn with the hood down and fastened to the chin, and was possibly wearing jeans.
The second man was slightly shorter in height. He had short dark hair and wore a dark waist-length jacket, lighter coloured shirt, possibly jeans and dark smart shoes.
A 23-year-old man arrested in connection with the assault remains on bail while police enquiries continue.
