A WOMAN has been left in shock after thieves stole keepsakes from the grave of her parents.
North Yorkshire Police said the York woman, in her mid-40s was struggling to come to terms with the loss of a gold chain with a locket holding pictures of her parents and four plastic hearts on sticks.
The thieves struck at Fordlands Road cemetery, in York, overnight on Thursday, June 12.
A police spokesman said: “It is beyond belief that someone could stoop so low as to steal what is clearly a treasured family memento and items of little monetary value from a grave.
“This utterly heartless and cruel act has naturally left the victim feeling deeply upset.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
