A TEENAGER has been arrested after an elderly woman was attacked on her way home from a night out.
Seventy-five-year-old Anne Anstey was left needing stitches to her face after she was attacked while walking home from Durham City on Saturday night (June 14).
Mrs Anstey was grabbed from behind, thrown to the ground and punched in the face on Arundel Way, in Meadowfield, at about 11.30pm.
The attacker stole her handbag, which contained a purse, mobile phone and cash.
Durham Police have arrested an 18-year-old man from the Durham area on suspicion of robbery. He remains in custody.
