TWO drivers have been taken to hospital after an accident this morning (June 18).
Police are appealing for witnesses following the crash on the A691 Consett to Lanchester road just after 7.30am.
The accident, involving a blue Vauxhall Zafira and a white Vauxhall Meriva Estate, happened near Iveston, at the junction with the road to Delves Lane.
The driver of the Zafira, a 67- year-old man from the Sacriston area, and the driver of the Meriva, a 69-year-old woman from the Consett area, were both taken to University Hospital of North Durham with minor injuries.
The road is now cleared and passable. Officers would like to thank the public for their patience this morning while they dealt with the collision and would appeal to anyone who witnessed it to call Durham Police on 101.
