A MAN was attacked by two burglars who knocked at his home.
Officers were called to an address at Usworth Cottages, Sunderland, at just after 5am, on Sunday, March 2, after two men knocked at the address.
"They assaulted the 32-year-old occupant before going into his home and stealing a games console, lap top and mobile phone. They then left the scene," a spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said.
"The victim received minor head and facial injuries as a result of the incident. He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment and has since been released.
The first man is described as around 6ft 2ins to 6ft 3ins tall, aged mid 20s to early 30s, of slim build, with a tanned complexion and dark stubble. One of his upper left teeth was missing and the remainder are described as being stained.
He was wearing a black wooly hat, a dark blue and black zipped fleece jacket and dark coloured loose fitting jeans. He spoke with a Sunderland accent.
The second man is described as around 5ft 10ins to 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build and unshaven, with black brushed forward hair shaved around the back and sides and longer on the top. He was wearing a dark coloured camouflage waist length coat and spoke with a cockney-style accent.
They made off with an Xbox 360 console covered in distinctive stickers, a selection of games, a Lenovo laptop and Nokia Lumia mobile phone.
Enquiries into the burglary are continuing today.
Acting Detective Sergeant Nick Lawrance, from Northumbria Police's Major Crime Team, said: "Thankfully the householder wasn't seriously injured as a result of this burglary.
"We're following up lines of enquiry today to trace the two men responsible for this offence.
"I'd urge anyone who recognises them from their description or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact us."
