A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of throwing a bottle that left a nine-year-old girl needing hospital treatment.
Abbie Keers, from Stanley, County Durham, could have been blinded when a beer bottle was thrown at her grandma’s car, shattering the window.
A man from the area was arrested in connection with the incident by police on Wednesday and bailed until mid-March.
Abbie almost lost the sight in her right eye and underwent facial plastic surgery to remove glass following the incident at around 10.30pm on Friday, February 14.
She was travelling in a silver Fiat Punto with her mum, grandmother and three-year-old sister Lexi as they headed to a walk-in medical centre.
But, as they were on the A693 in Stanley, travelling from the roundabout near the library towards the Asda roundabout, someone threw the glass bottle from the subway, which hit the front passenger side window where Abbie was sitting.
She suffered gashes to her forehead, nose, hands and around her right eye when shards of glass became embedded in her face.
