YOUNG people hoping to get on the employment ladder can attend a college event next week when 16 apprenticeships will be on offer.
The vacancies include apprenticeships in digital and social media, painting and decorating, bricklaying, transport management, school administration, customer service and catering.
The open event at Bishop Auckland College, on Woodhouse Lane, Bishop Auckland, on Tuesday, March 4, 5.30pm to 7.30pm, coincides with National Apprenticeship Week.
Bishop Auckland MP Helen Goodman employs an apprentice herself- junior secretary Kayleigh Berry, 19, from Bishop Auckland, who is studying business administration at the college.
Ms Goodman said: “It is fantastic to see Bishop Auckland College and local employers recognising the importance of investing in the future of our young people and enabling them to build the skills relevant to local industries.”
The college will also provide details of full time courses that start in September including construction, engineering, IT, motor vehicle, sport, childcare, catering, hairdressing, tourism, photography and performing.
