BRIT Award-winning indie pop Franz Ferdinand will perform at a North-East independent record shop next month.
The group are due to play a half-four, semi-acoustic set at Pop Recs Ltd in Fawcett Street, Sunderland, on Thursday March 27 at 5.30pm.
The shop was opened in June 2013 by local band Frankie and the Heartstrings as an outlet for their own albums It has already hosted acts such as Edwyn Collins, Badly Drawn Boy, The Cribs, The Futureheads.
Frankie Francis of Frankie and The Heartstrings, said: “It was our ambition to get a Brit Award-winning act to play in Sunderland. “Now it’s actually happening it makes it clear how special this is. To get a band with a profile like Franz Ferdinand coming to our city will be something I hope we will all be talking about for years to come”
Advance tickets will be available for £2.50 to people on benefits from the shop – proof of benefits is required - from 10am tomorrow (Saturday March 1). General sale tickets will be available from 10am Monday (March 3) at £5.
