A POLISH man wanted on an international arrest warrant has been taken into custody thanks to the vigilance of a police community support officer.
The 31-year-old man, who was spotted by a PSCO in the town centre of Consett, County Durham, today ( Wednesday, February 26) was arrested on suspicion of drugs trafficking and making threats to kill.
A police spokesman said: “The 31-year-old male of Polish origin was wanted on an international arrest warrant issued in Poland for drugs trafficking and possession and making threats to kill.
“A PCSO spotted the man in the street in Consett. Something didn’t ring true and he started talking to him.
“He contacted a police constable who arrested the man and took him to the Consett Police Station.”
The man will be taken to London, where he will appear at the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Thursday).
