TOOLS STOLEN: Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves stole power tools from a van parked on Central Parade, in Shildon. The theft took place overnight between Monday, February 24 and Tuesday, February 25. One of the tools, a Bosch grinder, has the legend DJ toolhire written on it in marker pen. Anyone who can help trace the thieves should contact Detective Constable Antony Kent on 101.
POLICE APPEAL: Thieves stole 250 litres of fuel from Sedgefield Sewerage Works overnight between Monday, February 24, and Tuesday, February 25. Police are seeking witnesses who saw a vehicle parked nearby on the A689 or A177 westbound overnight prior to the theft. Contact Durham Police on 101.
THEFT CHARGE: Elizabeth McLean, 20, of Montalbo Road, Barnard Castle, faces a charge of theft relating to jewellery worth £3,500. Miss McLean has pleaded guilty to the charge and she was granted unconditional bail. The case was adjourned at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court until Wednesday, March 19.
