A CHARITY which provides hospice care to patients in their own homes in Hambleton and Richmondshire could receive up to £20,000 in match funding for donations it receives next month.
Localgiving.com, an online platform for small charities and local community groups, and the Peter Sowerby Foundation will give Herriot Hospice Homecare up to £500 for each donation given through Localgiving.com from March 4 until March 31.
Localgiving.com will also match monthly donations to the hospice service for up to six months.
Medical entrepreneur and former GP at Egton Surgery, Dr Peter Sowerby, launched the foundation with a multi-million pound endowment last year.
Dr Sowerby co-founded Egton Medical Information Systems Limited, which has grown over more than 20 years to be the largest supplier of clinical information systems to GPs in the UK.
A hospice spokeswoman said: “We would like to thank Localgiving and the Peter Sowerby Foundation for this generous offer and would urge people to donate to us.
“All donations are spent on locally and your generosity will make a difference to terminally ill people, and their families’.
