A stetch of the A64 to the north east of York has now reopened following a serious crash earlier this evening.
Two people were taken to hospital after being cut free from a Ford Mondeo which was involved in a collision with a Transit van at about 5.10pm
It happened near Stockton-on-the-Forest and police, fire crews, paramedics and the air ambulance were all called to the scene.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said two men trapped in the damaged Mondeo were taken to hospital after being cut free.
The full extent of their injuries is not yet known, although North Yorkshire Police's control room said one of the men is understood to have been unconscious.
The other person freed from the car, an 82-year-old man, is believed to have less serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford Transit was unhurt.
The stretch of the A64 was closed n both directions between the junctions with the A1237 and the A169. The road reopened at around 10.30pm.
