THREE shows with an Eastern flavour will hit the North-East next month.
The Thousand and One Nights, also known as the Arabian Nights, features Egyptian storyteller and physical performer Cherine al-Ansary.
She will present The Tale of Mahmoud the Wanderer on Friday, March 7, and The Story of Aziza and Aziz the following night.
Both performances start at 7.30pm and will take place in the Norman Chapel of Durham Castle.
Ms al-Ansary returns following a performance in Durham last June.
Tickets are £6, or £5 for concessions. Places are limited to 50 per show.
Later in March, An Evening with Oxford Maqam: Music of the Egyptian Renaissance will take place in Durham Cathedral’s Chapterhouse.
A maqam is a traditional Middle Eastern takht, or chamber ensemble.
The programme will include traditional Arabic songs, Turkish instrumental pieces and some contemporary music.
Tickets are £7, or £5 for concessions.
To book for either event, visit the Durham World Heritage Site visitor centre, on Owengate, or call 0191-334-3805.
