THE former chairman of a popular museum has been honoured for his 20 years of service.

Mike Wood has been awarded honorary life membership of Richmondshire Museum in Ryders Wynd, Richmond.

Despite recently stepping down as chairman he remains active and involved in the museum’s management which continues to develop.

And it is hoped that the current long term project of digitising the museum’s collection records will provide an opportunity to recruit more volunteers and obtain further grants.

New chairman John Culpan said: “It’s good news for the museum and all concerned that Mike will remain on the management committee and for this opportunity to acknowledge and show our gratitude for Mike’s longstanding ongoing contribution.”
